Here is what Alpinestars says about the magnesium sliders: The magnesium composite toe sliders last up to four times longer than the plastic-based sliders. They do not get hot and give excellent feel and feedback. They add leverage when maneuvering the bike around corners on the track and according to Alpinestars they are the slider of choice for AMA Superbike, British Superbike, and World Superbike riders.
